Inserting Standard Assembly Fittings
Use the sample files provided at
<Creo load point>\Common Files\help\sample_models\piping when working in this exercise. It is recommended that you create a copy of the
piping folder on your computer and
set up piping data before you start working with the tutorial.
Workflow
1. Create a pipe segment.
2. Add a specification record.
3. Insert a fitting.
4. Remove a specification record.
Create a Pipe Segment
1. On the
Home tab, click
New. The
New dialog box opens.
2. Under
Type, select
Assembly.
3. Click OK to create a new assembly.
4. Click
Applications >
Piping. The
Piping tab opens.
5. On the Piping tab, select the Spec Driven check box.
6. Click
Create Pipe. The
Create Pipeline dialog box opens.
7. In the Size box, select 100A.
8. In the Number box, type 1.
9. Click OK. The Create Pipeline dialog box closes.
10. Click
Set Start. The
Define Start dialog box opens.
11. Select ASM_DEF_CSYS in the graphics window.
12. Click OK. The Define Start dialog box closes.
13. Click
Extend. The
Extend dialog box opens.
14. Drag a dragger handle along the z-axis and click OK. A pipe segment is created.
Add a Specification Record
1. Click
Spec DB. The
Define Piping Specification dialog box opens.
2. Click
. The
Open File dialog box opens.
3. Double-click ms_asfile.ptd. The selected file populates the Define Piping Specification dialog box.
4. Click the Assembly tab.
5. Delete the content in the Configuration box.
6. In the Fitting Selection Name box, select BRAN. The selected entry appears in the Configuration box.
7. Select NIPPLE, GLOBE, and NIPPLE in the same way.
8. In the Select Selection Name box, change the value to DRAIN_B.
9. Click
to add the displayed record.
10. Click
to save the file.
11. Close the Define Piping Specification dialog box.
Insert a Fitting
1. Click
Insert Fitting. The
Insert Fitting dialog box opens.
2. Select the pipe segment in the graphics window.
3. In the
Insert Fitting dialog box, click
.
4. In the Select Selection Name box, select DRAIN_B.
5. Click OK. The fitting is inserted.
Remove a Specification Record
1. Click
Spec DB. The
Define Piping Specification dialog box opens.
2. Click
. The
Open File dialog box opens.
3. Double-click ms_asfile.ptd. The selected file populates the Define Piping Specification dialog box.
4. Click the Assembly tab.
5. Select the specification record related to
DRAIN_B and click
. The selected record is removed.
6. Click
to save the file.
7. Close the Define Piping Specification dialog box.
