To Create a Reference Pattern
1. Select the feature or group to pattern and click Model > Pattern. The Pattern tab opens.
 
The selected feature or group must reference another patterned feature or group.
If the selected feature is of a type that cannot be patterned any other way, such as a round or chamfer, a Reference pattern of this feature is created.
A Reference pattern is limited to referencing a single existing pattern or group. Because of this:
Do not create a Reference pattern of a feature or group that references members of two or more patterns.
Do not create a Reference pattern of a feature or group that references two or more members of the same pattern.
To create a Reference pattern of a feature that references two or more features, first create a pattern of a group that includes the parent features. You can then create a Reference pattern that references the pattern of the group.
2. If the selected feature can be patterned independently, such as a coaxial hole, the Pattern tab opens, with the default pattern type set to Reference. The pattern leader is identified by and the pattern members are identified by .
3. To exclude a pattern member at a certain location, click the corresponding black dot. The black dot changes to white () to show that the pattern member has been excluded. To restore the pattern member, click the white dot again at any time while redefining the pattern.
