About the Trim User Interface
The Trim tab consists of commands, tabs, and shortcut menus. Select a curve or quilt to trim and then click Model > Trim to open the Trim tab.
Commands
trimming object collector—Displays a point, curve or plane to trim a curve, or a surface, curve chain, or plane to trim a quilt.
—Switches the side of the trimmed object to keep between one side, the other side, or both sides, or selects the side to which to apply a thickness value in a Thin Trim operation.
—Switches the Silhouette Trim option on or off. Available when a quilt is the trimmed object.

Trimmed curve collector—Displays a curve to trim.
Trimmed quilt collector—Displays a quilt to trim.
Swap—Selects which side of the resulting quilt retains the quilt ID. Available when you keep both sides of the trimmed quilt.
Trimming object—Displays a point, curve or plane to trim a curve, or a surface, curve chain, or plane to trim a quilt.
Details—Opens the Chain dialog box so you can modify the chain set properties.
Options—Specifies trim thickness dimensions, surfaces to exclude from thin trim, and controlled fitting requirements for surfaces:
Keep trimming surface check box—Keeps the trimming surface.
Thin trim check box—Trims the surface using a thickened trimming surface. Available when surface is the trimmed object.
Thin trim value box—Sets the thickness value.
Thin offset options:
Normal to Surface—Thickens the surface in a direction normal to surface.
Exclude Surface collector—Lists surfaces from the original quilt excluded from the Thin Trim operation.
Auto—Automatically excludes surfaces from the Thin Trim so the trim can be completed successfully.
Automatic Fit—Automatically determines the scaling coordinate system and fit along all three axes.
Controlled Fit—Thickens the surface by a specific scaling coordinate system and controlled fitting motion. Allows you to determine the offset direction.
Coordinate system—Displays a coordinate system that you use for scaling and fit.
Allow translationX, Y, and Z check boxes—Allows translation along the selected axes.
Properties
Name box—Sets a name for a feature.
—Displays detailed component information in a browser.
Shortcut Menus
Right-click the graphics window to access shortcut menu commands:
Trimmed Quilt—Activates the Trimmed quilt collector to specify the quilt to be trimmed.
Trimming Object—Activates the Trimming Object collector to specify the object used as the trimmer.
Exclude Surfaces—Activates the Exclude Surface collector to exclude selected surface from a Thin Trim operation.
Clear—Clears the active collector.
Flip—Specifies the direction of the arrow to indicate the portion of the surface to keep or where to apply the thickness value.
Thin Trim—Activates the Thin Trim options. These options are only available when trimming a quilt.
Right-click the direction arrow to access shortcut menu commands:
Flip—Redirects the direction of the arrow to indicate the side of the surface to keep after trimming.
Both Sides—Adds another arrow and keeps both sides of the trimmed surface or applies the thickness value to both sides.
