To Create Standard Cosmetic Threads
1. Click Model > Engineering > Cosmetic Thread. The Thread tab opens.
2. Click to use standard series and diameter and to display the standard thread options.
3. To select a surface to thread, click the Placement tab, click the Threaded surface collector, and then select a surface.
4. Select a thread series in the box:
For cylindrical standard cosmetic threads:
UNC (Unified Coarse Thread) or UNF (Unified Fine Thread) —Sets the number of threads per inch and the Imperial system of measurement.
ISO (International Organization for Standardization )—Sets the pitch and the metric system.
For conical standard cosmetic threads:
NPT (National Pipe Thread Taper) or NPTF (National Pipe Taper Fuel)—Sets the number of threads per inch and the Imperial system of measurement.
ISO_7 (International Organization for Standardization )—Sets the pitch and the metric system.
5. To set the start of the thread, perform one of these actions:
Click the Depth tab, click the Start thread from collector, and then select a reference (plane, surface, or quilt).
Click the collector on the Thread tab and select a reference.
An arrow appears indicating the direction of the thread creation.
6. To flip the thread to the other side of the start reference, click on the Thread tab.
7. For cylindrical threads, to set the thread depth (distance from the start reference), select a command in the Depth option box on the Depth tab:
Blind. Type a depth value in the box.
To Selected. Select a surface, plane, curve, axis, vertex, point, or quilt at which to end the threading.
8. Select the thread size in the box.
9. To change a parameter value, click the Properties tab, and then click a cell in the Parameters table.
10. Click .
