About Flexible Parts
A flexible part can be included in an assembly in various states. A spring, for example, can have various compression conditions in different places in an assembly. The part name, geometry, and structure remain the same in both the original component and the flexible component placed in an assembly. Varied Items that define flexibility are set for the part.
In order for the part to be flexible, the following varied items can be defined:
• Dimensions, tolerances, and parameters numeric values
• Suppress and resume feature states
The original part has properties that are shared by all instances of the flexible components placed in an assembly. The varied items are individually assigned values for each instance of the part in the assembly. Interfaces can be defined for the part as well, to automate placement in the assembly
