Mold Design and Casting > Working with Volumes > Creating Volumes > Creating Automatic Volumes > To Create Automatic Volumes

To Create Automatic Volumes
1. Open a reference model or a mold or cast assembly.
2. Click Mold > Mold Volume > Automatic Volume or click Cast > Die Volume > Automatic Volume. The Automatic Volume tab opens.
3. Click the Surfaces collector and select one or more reference surfaces of a model. Alternatively, click the References tab to select surfaces or view, add, or remove surfaces. You can also right click in the Graphics window, select References, and select one or more surfaces as references.

* You can also first select the surfaces and then click Mold Volume > Automatic Volume or Die Volume > Automatic Volume to create a mold or die volume.
4. Click the Coordinate System collector to change the coordinate system that is selected by default.
5. Click Cube or Bar Insert to specify the shape of the mold volume.
6. On the Options tab, in Rotations, specify a rotation value in degrees to rotate the mold volume as required. You can select or deselect to show or hide the dragger.
7. On the Options tab, in Linear Offsets, specify the linear offset values for each direction or specify an offset value in the Uniform Offset box for all directions.

* You can specify negative values if one of the selected surfaces exists inside the volume.
8. On the Options tab, in Overall Dimensions, specify overall dimensions for each direction, if required. The overall dimension is symmetrically applied in the respective direction. Any change in the overall dimensions alters the linear offset values that are set in the previous step.
9. Click the Envelope check box to modify the dimensions of the mold volume so that no offset is applied to the volume.

* If you click this check box, the specified linear offset values are reset and are not available. Clear the Envelope check box so that the linear offset values are available.
10. On the Properties tab, specify the name of the automatic volume.
11. Click OK.
