To Gather a Volume
1. Perform one of these operations:
Click Mold > Mold Volume > Mold Volume.
Click Cast > Die Volume > Die Volume.
Redefine a mold or die volume.
The Edit Mold Volume or the Edit Die Volume tab opens.
2. Click Gather Volume. The VOL GATHER menu appears.
3. Click Define and in the GATHER STEPS menu, click one or more of the following:
Select—Select surfaces or features from the reference part
Exclude—Exclude loops of edges or surfaces from the volume definition
Fill—Fill inner contours or holes on surfaces in volume
Close—Close the gathered volume by selecting cap plane and bounding edges
4. Click Surf &Bnd or Surfaces.
5. Add the FEATURE REFS using the Select menu.
6. Close the volume by specifying its end loop. The volume is created by extruding the base quilt up to the top surface. You also have an option to extrude some of the edges downward.
7. If you click Select for the first time, the GATHER SEL menu appears. Once the gather references have been selected, click Select. The GATHER SPEC menu appears with the following:
Type—Respecify the type (for example, Surf &Bnd instead of Surfaces).
References—Reselect the feature references. This brings up the SURF BND menu if the gather type is Surf &Bnd, and the FEATURE REFS menu in all other cases.
