To Submit a Tool Path for Remote Computation
When you submit an NC sequence tool path for remote computation, you can no longer work on this NC sequence until the tool path computation is complete. You can meanwhile work on other NC sequences or other Creo models, and then return to the current NC sequence to verify the completed tool path.
1. Select the step in the Model Tree and click Submit Path on the shortcut menu. The system asks whether you really want to leave the current NC sequence and submit its tool path for remote computation, and, upon confirmation, closes the NC SEQUENCE menu.
2. Select one of the following options on the shortcut menu to indicate when you want the remote computation to start:
Submit Now—Start the remote computation as soon as possible.
Submit Later—Start the remote computation at a later time.
The Distributed Computing Hosts Selection dialog box opens and lists all host machines designated for distributed computing. (Information is provided regarding the host name, the IP address, the hardware platform, the number of processors, and the CPU load for each workstation.)
* When you access the Job Manager for the first time, no servers are listed. Click List Servers. The system performs a search and lists all the host machines available for distributed computing. For a server machine to be available for distributed computing, you have to run dcadsetup on it in advance.
3. Select a host name for remote computation and click OK. The NC Job Manager dialog box opens. It shows all the jobs you have submitted for remote computation, along with the job status, scheduled time, if applicable, and appropriate messages.
4. If you selected Submit Later in Step 2, schedule the job by specifying its start time.
5. Click Close to close the NC Job Manager dialog box. You can open it again at any time by clicking on the top toolbar. The color of the icon provides information on collective job status.
The tool path computation is now under the programmatic control of the Job Manager. The Job Manager passes jobs to the server process at the specified times or when the server becomes available. The server process tells the Job Manager to change the job status to calculating when the job has been received. Upon completion or earlier failure the server process informs the Job Manager of completion or failure.
During the time that the tool path is submitted for remote computation, you can not make changes to the current NC sequence. Most of the commands on the NC SEQUENCE menu become unavailable. You can continue working on other NC sequences or other Creo models.
* If the job is currently being computed on the remote machine, the Abort button on the NC Job Manager becomes available. You can click it if you want to cancel the remote computation and make further changes to tool path. If the job is being held in the queue and you want to cancel it and make changes to the NC sequence, go to the NC Job Manager dialog box to delete the job.
6. When the tool path computation is successfully completed, the job status in the NC Job Manager dialog box changes to completed. Return to the NC sequence by clicking Machining > NC Sequence and selecting the NC sequence name. The NC SEQUENCE menu appears, with all the commands (except Abort Path) available.
7. Click Fetch in the NC Job Manager dialog box to open the PLAY PATH dialog box and verify the tool path. This incorporates the computed tool path into the .tph file.
