To Create and Edit a Follow Cut
A follow cut is added after every cut motion.
1. On the Trajectory, Profile, or Face tab, click Tool Motions.
2. Select the required option from the Tool Motions list to create the cut motion. A follow cut is added after the parent cut motion in the Tool Motions list. See topics under Related Links for details.
3. To add a follow cut, right-click a cut motion in the Tool Motions list and select Add Follow Cut from the shortcut menu.
4. To edit the definition of a follow cut, perform the following steps in the Follow Cut dialog box or the graphics window:
From the Follow Cut Dialog Box
Right-click Follow Cut in the Tool Motions list and select Edit Definition. The Follow Cut dialog box opens.
The name of the reference or parent cut motion is displayed in the Cut Motion box.
In the Follow Cut section specify the following parameters:
Select Distance or Ratio from the list to measure the location of the start and end of the follow cut from the start and end of the parent cut motion.
Click in the Start Location collector and enter or select a recently used value from the End 1 list to set the distance from the start of the cut motion to the start of the follow cut. The minimum value is 0. The maximum value depends on the measurement option selected. It is 1 if the measurement option is Ratio, and it equals the length of the cut motion if the option is Distance.
Click the End Location collector and enter or select a recently used value from the End 2 list to set the distance from the end of the cut motion to the end of the follow cut. The minimum value is 0. The maximum value depends on the measurement option selected. It is 1 if the measurement option is Ratio and it equals the length of the cut motion if the option is Distance.
Alternatively, right-click the graphics window and select End 1 and End 2 from the shortcut menu.
From the Graphics Window
You can also edit a follow cut in the graphics window as follows:
Right-click the follow cut in the graphics window and select Edit Follow Cut on the shortcut menu.
An arrow at the start of the cut indicating the direction the cut is traversed is displayed.
An offset reference dragger indicating the position of the first end of the follow cut with distance set to 0 is displayed
To change the location for editing the cut, drag the dragger to the new location, and release at the point where the cut should be edited.
To change the position of the start or end location of the follow cut perform the following:
1. Select a point on the cut motion to indicate the new location.
2. Right-click the point and select End 1 or End 2 from the shortcut menu.
The dragger for the selected option appears at the new location. The Distance box is updated to indicate the new start or end position of the follow cut.
5. The right-click menu of a Follow Cut in the Tool Motions list also provides options to edit the parameters, delete, cancel, or cut a follow cut.
6. To reverse the direction of the follow cut, select Reverse Cut.
Alternatively, select the cut direction arrow in the graphics window and select Reverse Cut on the shortcut menu.
7. Click Parameters to edit or customize the parameters using the Edit Parameters dialog box.
8. Click OK to save the changes and close the Follow Cut dialog box or click Cancel to cancel.
