To Create, Modify, or Remove Individual ECAD Cuts
1. To open the ECAD Cuts tab, do one of the following in an active board part:
To add a new ECAD Cuts feature, click ECAD Cuts. The ECAD Cuts tab opens.
To modify an existing ECAD Cuts feature, select it in the Model Tree and select from the mini toolbar.
2. Select the placement surface.
3. Use the ECAD Cuts tab to perform the following operations:
Creating new individual cuts
Consuming a cut by another cut
Removing individual cuts
Creating New Individual Cuts
Use one of the procedures below to create a new individual cut in the ECAD Cuts tab. You can create a cut by defining a new sketch, selecting surfaces to remove, creating a section from them and using this as the sketch, or by selecting a defined external sketch. When you select an external sketch, it becomes independent of the original sketch.
Creating a new cut by defining a new section:
1. To create a new cut use one of the following methods:
In the Cuts tab, make sure Create is selected from the list and click Define.
Right-click in the graphics window and make sure Section and Create are selected. Click Define Internal Sketch.
The Sketch tab opens.
2. Sketch and dimension the cut.
3. Click .
4. To define an additional cut, use one of the following methods:
Click New cut in the Cuts tab.
Right-click and select Add new cut, right-click again and select Define Internal Sketch.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4.
6. Click . The defined cuts are assigned ECAD-MCAD IDs. A new ECAD Cuts feature is created or the cuts are added to the feature being modified.
Creating a new cut by removing surfaces:
 
* Use this procedure to convert a regular board cut to an ECAD cut with an ECAD-MCAD ID that can be used in Collaboration.
1. In the Cuts tab, make sure Create is selected and click the Remove Surfaces collector.
2. Press CTRL and select the surfaces to remove.
3. Click Create section.
4. Select references for the sketch and click Close.
The surfaces you selected are highlighted and form the sketch for the ECAD cut.
5. To accept the cut click . You can move and edit the new cut.
6. Define additional cuts or click . The defined cuts are assigned ECAD-MCAD IDs.
Consuming a Cut by another Cut
Use the procedure below to consume a cut by another cut in the ECAD Cuts tab.
1. In the Cuts tab, select Modify from the list.
2. Under Sketch, click Define.
3. Sketch and dimension the cut.
4. Click .
5. Click the ECAD Cut collector.
6. Select an existing cut to consume. You can select from the Model Tree or using the Search tool.
7. To change the geometry of the selected cut, click Create section.
8. Click . The consumed cut is removed from the board and the consuming cut is assigned the ID of the consumed cut.
Removing Individual Cuts
Use the procedure below to remove a cut in the ECAD Cuts tab.
1. Click Cuts. The Cuts tab opens.
2. Select Remove from the list.
3. Select the ECAD cut to remove.
4. Click . The cut is removed.
