Collaboration with an ECAD Tool that does not Support EDMD IDX
The basic workflow is the same but remember:
IDF is used as the initial transfer between ECAD and MCAD.
Collaboration using incremental EDMD IDX form MCAD to ECAD is limited. The ECAD user can only view proposals in Creo View ECAD Validate (or earlier versions of ProductView Validate). Changes to the design must be done manually for each proposal.
Additional IDF transfers are most likely needed to set new baselines.
When the ECAD tool does not support EDMD IDX, use the steps below to create an incremental EDMD IDX file.
1. Export the design through EDAconduit, Creo View ECAD Adapters, or Creo View ECAD Interface for ECAD to create the first compare-to-design *.eda file.
2. Develop the PCB design. Save the current PCB design with the changes as a *.eda file.
3. Compares the two *.eda files, that is, the compare-to-design and the current PCB design, using standalone Creo View ECAD Compare.
4. Save the comparison results as an incremental EDMD IDX file.
5. The ECAD user sends the incremental EDMD IDX file to the Creo Parametric user.
