About Opening Non-Native CAD Data in Creo
When you enable Associative Topology Bus (ATB) and register the Windchill 9.1 or later server, the File Open dialog box allows you to browse the active or the inactive workspace or the commonspace of the primary and the secondary Windchill servers to locate the non-native CAD documents and their heterogeneous CAD content. The heterogeneous CAD data is stored on the servers as CATIA V5, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, SolidWorks, and NX files. You can set the Type option in the File Open dialog box to the CATIA V5 part or CATIA V5 Product, Creo Elements/Direct Modeling, SolidWorks part or assembly, or NX file-types to open their files in a Creo application such as Creo Parametric.
In the Windchill connected mode, you can use the File > Open command or the Creo browser actions, File > Open in Creo or Open In > Open in Creo, to open these non-native CAD documents in a Creo application such as Creo Parametric. You can access these options on the workspace or the commonspace pages of the CAD documents, viewed in the Creo browser, or from the following locations where CAD documents are visible:
The active Workspace of a server
The Workspace listing page
The folder page of the commonspace of a server
The CAD Document Property Page (CDPP)
The Search Navigator and the search results
The Advanced Collection User Interface
You can drag the icon from the Information page of the CAD documents, displayed in your workspace or commonspace and accessed in the Creo browser, into an empty graphics window to open the non-native CAD content in the Creo application such as Creo Parametric.
