About Attaching NC and other Creo Files to CAD Models
You can set Windchill server preferences to automatically search and attach files generated in Creo applications to CAD models when you upload the model files as CAD Documents to servers. For example, you can configure the server to automatically find and attach cutter location *.ncl and post-processed *.tap files to Creo NC assembly models when you upload the assembly model files to the servers. Windchill attaches the Creo NC files as the secondary content of the primary CAD Documents, just as it attaches CATIA V5 and IsoDraw files to CAD model files.
You can also configure the server to automatically attach .xml files containing manufacturing process information as the secondary content of the Creo NC assembly CAD Documents. You can use the dm_nc_process configuration option to automatically generate .xml files with the process information when you save Creo NC models in the Creo application. The .xml files are automatically attached to the NC assembly CAD Documents as their secondary content of category MPMLink Process Info when you upload the CAD Documents to the server. Windchill MPMLink then uses the process information in the .xml files to further define manufacturing processes. Windchill MPMLink creates specific steps in a process plan or generates resources for use in process plans based on the process information contained in the .xml files.
You can set the following server preferences to configure the automatic attachment and upload of files as the secondary content of the primary CAD Documents:
Upload CAD/Dynamic Document and Attachment Filter—Allows you to specify all files, including those generated in a Creo application, as the additional content of the CAD Documents.
Search Path for Automatically Attach Files on Upload—Allows you to define the search path of the files so that they are automatically found before they are attached to the CAD models.

* Before you set the server preferences, you must add the Creo application as a client in the Set Preference window.
The server preferences allow you to specify file names using wildcards if required. Therefore, when you check in or upload CAD Documents to the servers, all files, including those generated in a Creo application, that match the file name and the search path criteria on the servers are automatically located and attached as the secondary content of the CAD Documents. Additionally, files attached as the secondary content of CAD Documents must also match the preference value of category to which the secondary content would belong on the server after they are uploaded to the server.
