To Create a Configurable Subassembly in a Configurable Product or Module
1. In an open configurable product or a configurable module, click Create. The Create Component dialog box opens.
2. Select Subassembly from the Type list.
3. Select Configurable Product from the Sub-type list.
4. To change the default name, type a name in the File Name box.
5. To add a common name, type a name in the Common Name box.
6. Click OK. The Creation Options dialog box opens.
7. Choose a Creation Method to create and place the configurable subassembly.
Copy from existing—Copy the configurable subassembly template from an existing assembly. Click Browse to select the assembly to use as a template. The Component Placement tab opens to place the new subassembly.
Locate default datums—Create and place an empty subassembly with the selected Locate Datums Method.
Empty—Create a configurable subassembly with no geometry. Add geometry to the configurable subassembly.
Create features—Create a subassembly with no geometry. The subassembly is placed in the default location and is active when you close the dialog box. Add components to the subassembly.
