To Define Varied Material for Flexibility
Use this procedure to change the material to a material that is not already defined in the part, but is defined in the owner of the part. Use the Parameter varied items to change the material for a part when the desired material is already defined as an option for this part. When a material is defined in the parent component, you can assign it to a part using the Materials varied items.
1. Open an assembly.
2. Choose one of the following items:
A flexible component—Select the component, right-click it in the Model Tree or graphics window, and choose from the shortcut menu. The Component Placement tab opens. Click Flexibility > Varied Items. The Varied Items dialog box opens.
A component without defined flexibility—Select the component, right-click it in the Model Tree or graphics window, and choose Make Flexible from the shortcut menu. The Component Placement tab opens with the Varied Items dialog box open.
3. Click the Materials tab.
4. Click . The model name appears in Model Name column and the and the material assigned to the model appears in the Orig Material column.
5. Click in the cell in the New Material column. A list of materials defined for the parent component displays.
6. Select a material from the list. The selected material is now assigned to the component.
7. Click OK to apply the changes.
8. Click .
