Support for UTF-8
Creo View MCAD Adapter 6.0 and later supports Unicode characters through UTF-8 (Unicode Transformation Format 8–bit) character encoding. The default for the encoding character strings from Creo View MCAD Adapter is UTF-8. See the following additional information about support of UTF-8:
• Entities that support UTF-8 Unicode character publishing:
◦ File names
◦ File paths
◦ Annotations
◦ Attributes
◦ Installation path
◦ Configuration paths of adapters
• All the MCAD adapters support UTF-8 character encoding, except the following adapters:
◦ PDF
◦ CADDS
◦ Creo Elements/Direct Modeling
◦ Creo Elements/Direct Drafting
◦ VRML
◦ GAF/GBF
• Windchill Visualization Services 11.0-M030-CPS16, 11.1-M020-CPS07, 11.2.0.0 and later support worker publishing of file names with Unicode characters. Then set the following Windchill Visualization Services property in the file Windchill\codebase\WEB-INF\conf\wvs.properties:
<property default="UTF-8"
name="ftp.client.control.encoding"/>
• The FTP server that is used on worker machine for file upload and download must support UTF-8 encoding. For example, FileZilla supports UTF-8.
• For Non-File Synchronization mode in Windchill worker publishing, the Windchill Visualization Services property changes and the FTP server must be compatible with UTF-8.
• For File Synchronization mode in Windchill worker publishing, WWGM Adapter must also support UTF-8 encoding.
• For UTF-8 supported adapters, the out-of-the-box recipe setting for Encode Non-Ascii under > tabs in the Admin mode is cleared by default.
