Prerequisites for the Creo View Adapter for SolidWorks
Check the following items to ensure that your system is able to run the Creo View Adapter for SolidWorks:
Prerequisites for the SolidWorks Application
Validate that SolidWorks Standard, SolidWorks Professional, or SolidWorks Premium is correctly configured and licensed; otherwise, the adapter will not work.
Make sure that your operating system has the adequate CPU and storage system.
Prerequisites for Windchill Workgroup Manager (WGM)
Set the system environment variable PTC_WGM_ROOT to the desired folder location, where the WGM application Registry will be created, for example, C:\PTC\WGM_ROOT. Make sure that the referenced directory is created in the same drive where the WGM application is installed.
Make sure to register the same SolidWorks versions in WGM as planned to be configured in the worker configuration.
Prerequisites for the Configuration of the SolidWorks Adapter
The Creo View Adapter for SolidWorks must be supported on the operating system, SolidWorks version, and meet the minimum requirements as shown in the Creo View Adapters Software Matrix.
To run the SolidWorks worker in service mode, complete the following steps:
1. Set system environment variable, PVIEW_WD_RUNASUSER, to the worker batch file. For example, PVIEW_WD_RUNASUSER=swworker.
2. After you configure the adapter for SolidWorks, run the script file swrunInteractive.bat from the configuration directory to launch SolidWorks in GUI mode. Respond to the dialog boxes that open in SolidWorks.
You can configure the adapter for SolidWorks to use Auto Detect mode. If the worker machine has multiple SolidWorks applications installed, then you can use one SolidWorks application as the default for the publishing process. Complete the following steps to configure the default SolidWorks version in Auto Detect mode:
1. Select the SolidWorks version you want, right-click on the application and select Run as administrator. This SolidWorks version will be the default for Auto Detect mode.
2. Click OK or accept the dialog boxes and messages that open in SolidWorks, and close the application.
3. Reconfigure the worker setup and run the script file swrunInteractive.bat to accept any UI messages.
*
Running multiple Adapter for SolidWorks sessions on the same machine simultaneously is not supported.
If you attempt to load CAD data into SolidWorks and have problems, those same problems will prevent the adapter from converting this data to the Creo View format.
Do not use network drive installations of SolidWorks for workers publishing.
