To Select a Geometry Using Smart Selection
1. On the status bar, enable the Smart selection filter.
2. In the graphics area, select the part on which the geometry lies. Bodies, or surfaces and edges on the part become available for selection.
3. If the part contains bodies, move the pointer to the body. The body is prehighlighted.
4. Select the prehighlighted body. The parent part becomes deselected and the surfaces and edges on the part become available for selection.
5. Move the pointer over the surface or edge associated with the geometry. The feature is prehighlighted.
6. Select the prehighlighted feature. The parent part becomes deselected. Depending on the type of face or edge selected, additional features such as the center axis or point, or the start and end points are shown and become available for selection.
7. To select a point on the feature, move the pointer over the point. The point is prehighlighted.
8. Select the prehighlighted point, or press and hold SHIFT to select an arbitrary point on the model surface. In this case, the point under the pointer is prehighlighted.
*
To select an arbitrary point on the surface of a specific hidden part, select the part first.
You cannot restrict the selection of arbitrary points to only an edge.
9. To select the subsequent geometry of the highlighted part, press and hold CTRL and select the geometric feature. The parent part becomes deselected.
