To Perform an Interference Detection Query
1. Click > . The Interference Detection Settings dialog box opens.
2. Select a Query Name from the list or type a new name.
If you select a query from the Query Name list that was calculated using the Penetration-based calculation method, you will receive a message about the option of switching to the current Volume-based calculation method. If you do not receive the message, continue to step 4.
3. Close the message to continue, and then select an Interference Calculation Method.
◦ Volume-based tolerance—New queries automatically use this calculation method.
◦ Penetration-based tolerance—Legacy calculation method.
▪ You can still load or recalculate old reports that calculate Tolerable Penetration.
▪ Comparing old reports with new ones may result in inaccurate results.
▪ Penetration-based tolerance will not be supported in future releases.
4. Under Calculation Mode, select Accurate or Approximate.
| • To calculate the interference volumes in Approximate mode, Calculate interference volumes when running in approximate mode must be selected in the Interference options. • Interferences with no calculated volume are treated as interferences, and Unavailable appears in the Volume column. |
5. Select an interference Detect option of the following type or combination of types:
◦ Interference
◦ Interference + Contact
Interference + Contact + Clearance
6. Type a value for one or more of the following fields:
◦ Using Volume-based tolerance
▪ Tolerable Volume
▪ Tolerable Distance
▪ Required Clearance
◦ Using Penetration-based tolerance
