About Alternate Part Names
The automated names of parts in the sBOM Tree or Structure Tree can be meaningless and confusing. You can modify the automated names in the sBOM Tree or Structure Tree by configuring alternate part names, filtering for specific parts and hiding or showing information.
For example, you can perform the following modification:
Default Structure Tree
|
Modified Structure Tree
|
|
|
The modified Structure Tree displays names that are easier to recognize. This helps large and cumbersome structure trees become more manageable and meaningful. You can configure an alternate part name to include attribute names and values. The alternate part names then automatically appear throughout the user interface in areas such as those listed below:
• Tooltips
• Annotations
• sBOM/Structure Tree
• Groups
• Searches
• Viewables Tab
• Attributes Tab
• Item List Tab
You can save and reuse the settings in subsequent Creo View sessions.
