Hidden Geometry, Hidden Parts, and Non-solid Geometries in Interference Detection
Interference detection results are affected by hidden geometries, hidden parts, and non-solid geometries. Representations can be published with geometries and parts that are hidden by default. You can change the visibility of geometries and parts in the view. Set the interference calculation to include or exclude these geometries, parts, and non-solid geometries by setting the following options:
1. Click File > Options. The Creo View Options dialog box opens.
2. On the left, under Model, click Interference. The Model-Interference options open.
3. Select Include parts hidden by default to include parts hidden by default in interference detection calculations (default is unchecked).
4. Under Consider hidden geometry for calculation as follows, select one of these option to determine the inclusion of hidden geometry in interference detection calculations:
All—Includes all geometries.
Currently visible—Includes only currently visible geometry.
Visible by default—Includes only the geometry that is visible by default.
5. Select Include Non-solid Geometries to include geometries that are not solid, such as surfaces, in the interference detection calculations (default is checked).
This option affects only interference detection calculations performed in Approximate mode. Non-solid geometries are not included in the calculations in Accurate mode. If Accurate mode falls back to Approximate mode and the option is selected, non-solid geometries are included in the calculation.
6. Click OK to apply the options and close the dialog box.
Query outcomes are determined by the options set at the time the report was generated.
The following sequence illustrates the outcomes of different hidden parts settings:
1. Open the Creo View Options dialog box as described above, and verify that Include parts hidden by default is in its default unchecked state.
2. In the Structure Tree, clear and then select the root of the model. Parts hidden by default are not checked and not visible in the model.
3. Select hidden parts in the Structure Tree. The hidden parts are now displayed in the model.
4. Run the interference query on All Structure. The hidden parts are not included in the interference detection results.
5. Re-open the Creo View Options dialog box as described above, and select Include parts hidden by default and click OK. On the Interference Detection tab, click Recalculate. The hidden parts are now included in the interference detection results.
6. Re-open the Creo View Options dialog box as described above, and clear Include parts hidden by default and click OK. On the Interference Detection tab, click Recalculate. The Status of the hidden parts in theInterference Detection results is Resolved.
