Selectable Objects in Schematic Viewables
This table shows the types of objects found in ECAD Schematic viewables, and whether or not they can be selected graphically.
Object
Graphically Selectable
Comments
Net
Yes
Selectable through a wire, junction point etc.
Symbol
Yes
Components, fractured components and special symbols are selectable.
Page borders, title blocks etc. are special symbols.
Figure
Yes
Defined as special symbol.
Pin
Yes
Junction Point
Yes
Selects the net.
Ref Des
Yes
Text that is part of a component is selected as part of the component.
Text
Yes
If the text is associated with a component or a symbol, the component or the symbol is selected.
Some text may not be selectable.
Geometry
No
Usually associated with a special symbol.
Pin Pair
No
Part of a net.
Markup
Yes
This table shows the types of objects found in Creo Schematic viewables.
Object
Equivalent in ECAD Schematics
Comments
Components
Components can be the parents of other components and connections.
There can be a number of components with the same name but different full names. The full names of children include the parent name delimited with !.
Connections
Nets
Fibers
Wires
Highways
Buses
Ports
Pins
Ports are not shown under connections.
Information about connections is displayed next to ports in cases of single connection, or as a connections branch under the port in cases of multiple connections.
If a port is selected, the corresponding connections are highlighted in the structure.
Sheets
To select a sheet, click in Structure Tree or Attributes list. You can select multiple sheets.
To change the sheet currently viewed, click an option in the ribbon or double-click in the Structure Tree.
Fiber Port
Most fiber ports do not have graphics or display name. They connect between these objects:
Fiber and port—Ports are connected to fiber ports rather than to connections directly, therefore they do not appear as ports under connections.
Fiber and another fiber—When the fibers belong to different connections.
Fiber and highway
Fiber port attributes are not shown in Creo View even if fiber ports have attributes (properties) in Creo Schematics.
Components, connections and ports can exist logically in the Structure Tree for reporting and placing purposes in the design database. If they do not exist graphically, it is impossible to zoom to or center to them.
