Using cadds2pv_config
The configuration of the Creo View Adapter for CADDS 5 is accomplished using the cadds2pv_config tool. Users must set their X display, then follow these steps to configure the adapter.
1. Navigate to the <installation_directory>/bin directory in which you installed the Creo View Adapter for CADDS 5. At the prompt type:
./cadds2pv_config. The CADDS 5Adapter Configuration dialog box opens.
2. Existing Configuration group settings: Creo View Adapter for CADDS 5 to the latest version.
The Existing Configuration group is used to update an existing configuration of the CADDS 5.
The Setup Directory allows you to point cadds2pv_config at the previous configuration.
If you have a prior configuration, this field allows you to quickly and completely update that configuration to the latest version of the Creo View Adapter for CADDS 5. Once you browse to a previous setup directory, cadds2pv_config automatically fills in all the other required fields. Simply click Setup and your earlier version is automatically updated to the latest version.
*
You can preserve the existing version and create a new configuration by simply changing the Setup Directory location in the Parameter group box, as described next. This allows you to test a configuration before removing the previous working configuration.
3. Parameters group settings:
The Parameters group on the dialog box is used to configure how your system locates and starts CADDS 5 for publishing purposes. The Parameters group includes these fields:
a. Client/Server Version
In the Client/Server Version drop-down list, you specify the client/server version number. This version should match your Creo View and/or Visualization server. Setting the version incorrectly can cause problems with your Creo View and/or Visualization server.
b. Setup Directory
The setup directory is the directory from which the adapter runs. Rather than accepting the default, users should create a <setup_directory> in an entirely different location from the <installation_directory>/bin. Either browse to the correct setup directory using the folder icon , or type the path directly in the field.
Using different setup directories allows you to have multiple adapter configurations available to address different visualization requirements. cadds2pv_config configures the adapter to run from the selected <setup_directory>.
Click OK after selecting the correct directory. You are returned to the CADDS 5 Adapter Configuration dialog box to make further configuration selections.
c. CADDS 5 Command
Enter or browse to the correct CADDS 5 startup command. In this example the startup command is given as:
/usr/apl/cadds/scripts/cadds5
d. CADDS 5 Version
Use this option to specify which version of CADDS 5 you are using. Available versions are R13 pre 2003350, R13 2003500 or later, R14, and R15. Select the version for your installation from the drop-down list.
*
If color drawings are required, you must upgrade your CADDS 5 installation to CADDS 5 R13 datecode 2003350 or later.
e. Source .caddsrc
Enables the sourcing of the current users .caddsrc file to correctly configure the CADDS 5 environment.
*
The Creo View Adapter for CADDS 5 creates a fully self-contained CADDS 5 environment in which to operate, therefore this option should only be used if a custom specific setup is required or problems occur (such as an incomplete CVPATH).
f. Source .caddsrc-local
Enables the sourcing of the .caddsrc-local file which can reside in either the current or in the users home directory. This can be used to modify the CADDS 5 setup on a per directory basis; for example, it can be used to correctly configure the CVPATH when converting assemblies.
g. Adapter Ini File
If you have a previous version of the Creo View Adapter for CADDS 5 (pre v7.0) already configured in your system, enter or browse to the cv2ol.ini file. You must provide the location of the file so the previous worker settings can be transferred to your new installation configuration.
4. Components group settings:
The Components group box of the CADDS 5Adapter Configuration dialog box is used to determine what publishing components your system needs to configure and how your system locates the Visualization server host and port. The Components group box includes these fields:
a. Create caddsbatch
Enable this setting to run CADDS 5 in batch mode from the command line to convert batch of files to Creo View viewables.
b. Create caddsworker
Creates a startup script that is used by the Windchill Visualization Service to start the adapter in worker mode to publish Creo View viewables as part of the Windchill publishing process. To do this, the adapter need to know details of the Windchill server.
a. Server Host
Enter the host name of the Windchill server.
b. Server Port
Enter the port to be used to communicate with the Worker Agent on the Windchill server. The default port number is 5600.
c. Test Server
After you specify the server host and port, you can click the Test Server button to validate the machine name, port number, and worker availability, and verify that it can connect to the Worker Agent at that location. A Server Configuration Test window displays the following results:
Worker Type
Server
Port
Test Connection to Server—Opens the Server Configuration Test dialog box. If the test result shows Succeeded or Failed, and the resulting message commences with Set keepalive ok, then click Ok to continue the setup.
c. Create db_daemon
Select this check box to create a database daemon startup script.
*
If you do not already have a dbdaemon running use this script to launch an ODB_DAEMON, required to convert _db CAMU database files. This script should be run as user root, see CADDS 5 documentation for more information.
5. Click Setup to generate the configuration. The Setup Complete dialog box appears.
6. Click OK to continue.
7. Once you have setup the configuration, you may click Recipe Editor to edit this configurations recipe file. See Introduction to Recipe Editing for Converting CAD Data for further information.
*
Changes to the recipe file should only be performed by advanced users.
8. Select Exit and the Exit cadds2pv_config dialog box appears. Click Yes to exit.
