Using dgn2pv_config on Windows
The configuration of the Creo View Adapter for DGN is accomplished using the dgn2pv_config tool.
1. Using Windows Explorer, browse to the <installation_directory>\bin directory in which you installed the Creo View Adapter for DGN. Double-click dgn2pv_config. The DGN Adapter Configurationdialog box opens.
2. If you have a prior configuration, you can use the Existing Configurationfield to quickly and completely update that configuration to the latest version of the Creo View Adapter for DGN. The Setup Directoryfield in this group allows you to specify the location of the previous configuration.
Once you browse to an existing setup directory, dgn2pv_config automatically fills in all the required fields. Click Setup to automatically update your earlier version to the latest version.

If you prefer to test the new configuration before overwriting your existing version, you can change the Setup Directory location in the Parametersgroup. This saves the new configuration in a different location, preserving the existing version instead of overwriting it. Then, if you choose not to use the new configuration, you can return to the Existing Configuration Setup Directory, which acts as a backup. When you are satisfied that the new version is working in your location, you can overwrite the old version with the new one.
3. Use the Parametersgroup settings in the DGN Adapter Configurationdialog box to specify configuration settings for the adapter. This allows you to specify the way your system locates and starts DGN for publishing purposes. The Parametersgroup includes these fields:
a. Client/Server Version
In the Client/Server Versiondrop-down list, you specify the client/server version number. This version should match your Creo View client and/or Visualization server. Setting the version incorrectly can cause problems with your Creo View client and/or Visualization server.
b. Setup Directory
dgn2pv_config configures the adapter to run from the setup directory that you specify. Using different setup directories allows you to have multiple adapter configurations available to address different visualization requirements.
To specify the setup directory, you can use the folder icon to the right of the Setup Directoryfield in the DGN Adapter Configuration dialog box. This displays the Select a Setup Directory dialog box. Browse to a <setup_directory> location, or you can type the path in the Directoryfield.
Click OKafter selecting the setup directory. You are returned to the DGN Adapter Configuration dialog box, as shown previously, to make further configuration selections.
4. Use the Componentsgroup settings in the DGN Adapter Configurationdialog box to define the publishing components to configure and the way your system locates the Visualization server host and port. The Components group box includes these fields:
a. Create dgnbatch
Enable this setting to run DGN in batch mode from the command line to convert batch of files to Creo View viewables.
b. Create dgnworker
Creates a startup script that is used by the Windchill Visualization Service to start the Adapter in worker mode to publish Creo View viewables as part of the Windchill publishing process. To do this, the Adapter needs the following details about the Windchill server.
i. Server Host
Enter the host name of the Windchilll server.
ii. Server Port
Enter the port to be used to communicate with the Worker Agent on the Windchill server. The default port number is 5600.
iii. Worker Alias
Optionally, enter the name of the worker alias.
A name for the worker alias is not required to configure the worker.
Do not include spaces in the name for the worker alias.
iv. Test Server
After you specify the server host, port, and alias name in the case of an alias worker, click Test Serverto perform the following actions:
Validate the machine name, port number, worker availability, and alias name.
Verify that the test server can connect to the Worker Agent at that location.
A Server Configuration Testwindow displays the following results:
Worker Type
Server
Port
Alias
Test Connection to Server—Opens the Server Configuration Testdialog box. If the test result shows Succeededor Failed, and the resulting message commences with Set keepalive ok, then click Okto continue the setup.
5. Click Setupto generate the configuration. The Setup Completedialog box appears.
6. Click OKto continue.
7. After you set up the configuration, you can click Recipe Editorto edit the recipe file for this configuration.

Changes to the recipe file should only be performed by advanced users.
8. Click Exitand a prompt appears. Click Yesto confirm that you want to exit.
