To Add 3D Symbols to the Symbol Library
1. Open the Model-Symbols options pane in the Creo Illustrate Options dialog box in one of the following ways:
From the Ribbon:
In the Home tab, in the Insert group, click Symbols. The symbol gallery opens.
Click Open Symbol Library. The Symbol Library dialog box opens.
Click Manage. The Creo Illustrate Options dialog box opens showing the Model-Symbols options on the right.
From the Creo Illustrate Options dialog box:
Click File > Options. The Creo Illustrate Options dialog box opens.
In the Showing box, select Illustration.
On the left, under Model, select Symbols. The Model-Symbols options open on the right.
2. To add a symbol to the Symbol Library, do the following:
Click Add. The Symbol dialog box opens.
Browse to a 3D symbol file to add, and then click Open. The Library: Add Symbol dialog box opens.
Select Annotation Symbol to associate the symbol with a part, enabling the symbol to move with the part.

3D symbols that do not have the Annotation Symbol option checked will have no association to parts even if a part is selected on inserting it into the figure.
Click Set Thumbnail to set the symbol orientation for the thumbnail preview of the symbol.
In the Title and Description text boxes, type the symbol title and descriptive text.
In the Category list, select a category or to add a new category select Manage Categories.
The Manage Categories dialog box opens.
Click Add. The Add Category dialog box opens. In the Name field type the name of the new category. Click OK to add the category. Click Cancel to close without adding a category.
Under Tooltip, select Title and Description to display both the tooltip title and description when you place the pointer over the symbol.
Click +Add to define the tag for a symbol and then select a tag from the dropdown list, type a description, quantity, and units. Click OK.
Click Edit CSYS location to change the location of the CSYS on the symbol.
The CSYS can be moved by either picking a new point or dragging along an axis, use the radio button to choose how to move the CSYS.

The CSYS location is the insertion point of the symbol unless an offset is defined.
Click Save CSYS location to save the changes made to the CSYS.
View orientation—Select a predefined view from orientation list to help orientate the symbol.
Insertion point offset from CSYS — Select an axis and define the distance to set the insertion point offset.
Select the orientation of the symbol when inserting into the figure.
Align to CSYS —Aligns the CSYS to either a selected part or the global CSYS if no part is selected.
Use current orientation — Uses the orientation of the 3D view.
