Opening Files > About Linking to the Windchill Server

Use the direct connection to the Windchill server to import CAD files to Creo Illustrate or open existing c3di files already stored on the server.

When opening existing Creo Illustrate files on the server you have the option to check out the file or open as read only.

Files that are checked out will only be checked in when the file is closed and not every time the file is saved. To close the file for check in, use either:

• File > New

• File > Exit

• The status of the file on the server displays in the title bar.

• Changes made to a read only file cannot be saved. Use the Save As option to create a new file.
