To Create a New Illustration
When you create a new illustration, you also create the first figure. Instructions follow.
1. Click Home > Import, and then select a type of import:

The Import File dialog box opens.

If you have another illustration open, you must first click File > New.
For more information on the types of file import, see Linking, Embedding, and Updating Imported Content.
2. Browse to the file to import, and then click Open. The New Figure dialog box opens.
3. To automatically map the eBOM to the sBOM and load all of the items, select an available 3D view state or a Schematic sheet from the list on the left. A preview is displayed on the right.

You can access Schematic data with a Schematic Illustrator license only.
4. To create a figure with no items loaded, select Blank.
5. Click OK. The illustration is created with a figure:
By default, the eBOM is automatically mapped to the sBOM.
The sBOM is filtered to include only the items in the current figure.
6. To load sBOM items to the figure, in the sBOM Tree, select the check boxes for the items.

Loading or unloading a parent sBOM item, such as a subassembly, loads or unloads all of its child items, such as the parts in that subassembly.
