About the Datum Reference User Interface
The
Datum Reference dialog box consists of commands, tabs, and shortcut menus. Click
Model >
Datum >
Reference to open the
Datum Reference dialog box.
Commands
• Type—Sets the type of datum reference.
• Intent Name check box—Assigns a name to the intent object.
◦ Intent box—Describes the intent of the object.
◦ Instance box—Defines the instance of the object.
• Single Item check box—Limits the references defining the intent object to one single object or query.
Tabs
• Placement
The type of datum reference you select determines which reference collectors are displayed.
◦ Intent Chain ▪ Chains collector—Displays edge chains or intent chains used as references for an intent chain.
▪ Details—Opens the Chain dialog box.
◦ Intent Surface ▪ Surfaces collector—Displays surfaces used as references for an intent surface.
▪ Details—Opens the Surface Sets dialog box.
▪ Chains collector—Displays edge chains and intent chains used as references for an intent surface.
▪ Details—Opens the Chain dialog box.
▪ Flip—Selects a different region defined by the chains.
▪ Dynamic Preview check box—Displays a preview of the intent surface in the graphics window.
◦ Intent Datum Point ▪ Datum Point collector—Displays a datum point used as a reference for an intent datum point.
◦ Intent Datum Plane ▪ Datum Plane collector—Displays a datum plane used as references for an intent datum plane.
◦ Intent Datum Coordinate System ▪ Coordinate System collector—Displays a coordinate system used as a reference for an intent coordinate system.
◦ Intent Datum Axis ▪ Datum Axis collector—Displays a datum axis used as a reference for an intent datum axis.
◦ Intent Curve ▪ Chains collector—Displays chains used as references for an intent curve.
▪ Details—Opens the Chain dialog box.
• Properties
◦ Name box—Sets a name for a feature.
◦ —Displays detailed component information in a browser.
Shortcut Menus
Right-click the graphics window when the Datum Reference dialog box is open to access shortcut menu commands.
• Next—Selects the next surface or edge.
• Previous—Selects the previous surface or edge.
• Pick From List—Lists surfaces or edges to select.
• Solid Surfaces—Selects solid surfaces in the model and is available only if solid surfaces exist in the model.
• Clear—Clears all selected surfaces and chains from the Reference collector.
Right-click the Reference collector to access shortcut menu commands.
• Remove—Clears the selected reference in the Reference collector.
• Remove All—Clears all references from the Reference collector. Available only when the Reference collector lists more than one reference.
