To Set Cable Parameters from a Datatable
1. Create the following cable CSV files:
CSV file #1—Cable datatable that defines overall cable parameters
CSV file #2—Membermap that defines the number of conductors
CSV file #3—Datatable that defines the individual conductor spool information (datasets)
Cable parameters are hierarchical and for export to Cabling, must be read from a cable datatable (CSV file #1). This file contains a link to a membermap (CSV file #2) which in turn includes a link to the individual conductor spool dataset (CSV file #3). This structure represents a cable spool and ensures correct transfer to Cabling.
2. In the Catalog Explorer, create a new cable definition as a fixed group. In order to instance a cable with cores, it must be created as a fixed group catalog shape.
3. Set the type to Connection!Cable.
4. Use the Datatable Explorer to load the CSV files needed to define the cable.
5. In the Properties dialog box, click Select Datatable to attach the datatable to the cable definition.
6. Create the shape. The only required geometry is the component datum.
