File Formats for Importing and Exporting Design Sheets
Design sheets can be imported from or exported to the following file formats:
SHEETS
DXF
DWG
PDF (export only)
MEDUSA
CGM
XML
Design Sheets Files
Design sheets files are created as a way of sharing design sheets between designs. Use design sheets files to use design sheets in multiple designs.
DXF Files
Drawing Exchange Format was developed by Autodesk to allow data interoperability between AutoCAD and other programs. Use this file type to import data from AutoCAD designs or to export design data to AutoCAD.
DWG Files
DWG (“drawing”) file format is used for storing 2D and 3D design data and metadata. The DWG file format is supported by many CAD applications. Use this file type to export design data to different CAD applications or import
PDF Files
Portable Document Format (PDF) is used for representing 2D documents that are independent of the application software, hardware and operating system. One or more design sheets can be exported as PDF files.
MEDUSA Files
MEDUSA files contain 2D detailing and design documentation.
CGM Files
Computer Graphics Metafile (CGM) is an ISO standard, that provides a 2D image file format for storage and retrieval of graphics information. CGM is a device-independent format. You can export a design sheet to CGM format versions 1 and 3. You can import versions 4 and earlier.
For export CGM file formats are encoded as binary or clear text in either abstract or metric coordinates.
XML Files
Extensible Markup Language (XML) files are used to export information to and import information from Piping and Cabling.
