To Create a Freeform Surface or Quilt
1. Set the enable_obsoleted_features configuration option to yes. The Surface Free Form command appears on the All Commands list.
2. Add the Surface Free Form command to the desired user-defined group on the ribbon.

3. Click Surface Free Form. The SURFACE: Free Form dialog box opens.
4. Select an existing surface to provide the solid or quilt reference (base) surface for the freeform surface definition.
5. Enter the number of control curves in the first direction and click . Red isolines appear in the first direction.
6. Enter the number of control curves in the second direction, and click . A control grid appears, and the Modify Surface dialog box opens.
7. Select a point on the grid to drag, or optionally you can use the Modify Surface dialog box to define the Poly Motion region, turn on the dynamic diagnostics, or use sliders.
8. When finished tweaking, click OK in the Modify Surface dialog box.
9. Click OK in the dialog box to create the freeform feature.
