Mass Definition Dialog Box (FEM mode)
When you click Refine Model > Mass, the Mass Definition dialog box opens. Use the following items on this dialog box to create a mass in FEM mode.
Name—Enter a descriptive name, or accept the default name.
Type—The options in the References area of the dialog box depends on the type you select from theType list. You may select one of the following types:
Simple—This is the default type. For this type, you can choose between Point(s), Edge(s)/Curve(s), Surface(s) in the References area.
If you chose Point(s), select one or more points, vertices, point features, or a pattern of points as references.
If you chose Edge(s)/Curve(s), select one or more edges or curves or both.
If you chose Surface(s), select one or more individual surfaces, part boundaries, or surface sets.
Your selections appear in the References collector.
Advanced—If you select this type, select one or more points, vertices, point features, or a pattern of points in the References area. Your selections appear in the References collector.
Component At Point—This type is available only in the assembly mode. If you select this type, you can select a single datum point or vertex as a reference. Your selection appears in the References collector.
Component Distributed—This type is available only in the assembly mode. If you select this type, make a choice between Point(s), Edge(s)/Curve(s), Surface(s) in the References area. Select these references in a manner similar to that described for the Simple type.

* If the configuration option sim_additive_mass is set to "Yes," you can create multiple masses on the same geometric entity, or on geometric entities, which would share the same node after meshing, and thus would invoke the precedence rules if the option were turned off. If you create a mass using a geometric reference on which you previously created a mass, the software opens a dialog box stating that another entity uses the same references. When you confirm, the software creates the second mass. The Properties area of the dialog box changes depending upon your selection in the Type area.
