Creo Simulate > Modeling Structure and Thermal Problems > Connections > Gaps > To Create a Gap (FEM Mode)

To Create a Gap (FEM Mode)
1. Click Refine Model > Gap. The Gap Definition dialog box opens.
2. Specify the following in the Gap Definition dialog box.
Name—Spcify a name or accept the default name. By default, Creo Simulate assigns the name as GapX where X increments automatically.
References—If you did not select geometry before opening the Gap Definition dialog box, select one of these references for the gap and select the appropriate geometric entities on your model:
Point-Point—Select two points or two vertices.
Point-Edge (Projection) — Select a point and an edge, or a vertex and an edge. When you select a point and an edge, the contact created is represented by the shortest projected distance between the point and the edge.
Point-Surface (Projection)—Select a point and a surface, or a vertex and a surface. When you select a point and a surface, the contact created is represented by the shortest projected distance between the point and the surface.

* You can use a vertex as a point by selecting the vertex location.
Surface-Surface—Select two surfaces.
Orientation—Select and define the orientation of the XY plane.
Clearance
Axial Stiffness
Transverse Stiffness
3. If you have selected Surface-Surface under Reference, select one of these methods for calculation of the stiffness values from the Distribution list:
Total
Per Unit Area
4. Click OK. Agap icon is displayed at the specified location on your model.
