Noninertial Frame
In the Flow Analysis Tree under Domains, select a fluid domain to see the noninertial frame in the Properties panel.
Use the noninertial frame for the solution of the Pressure and Flow field in a volume in a rotating or linearly accelerating reference frame. When solving in the Noninertial Frame, the rotational boundary conditions are still set in terms of the stationary (laboratory) reference frame. Also, the Pressure and Flow fields appear in terms of the nonrotating (laboratory) reference frame. You can solve volumes with a Noninertial Frame, a Stationary Frame, or both using Multiple Reference Frames (MRF) options. You can connect the domains using the Mismatched Grid Interface (MGI) algorithm.
Noninertial Frame is defined using the following options:
Rotational Units, Rotational Direction, Rotational Speed, Rotational Center, and Rotational Axis Vector.
Velocity—Simulates a linearly accelerating system. When the Volume is specified to have a Noninertial Frame with a velocity then the flow field is solved in the reference frame of the accelerating coordinate system. Velocity under the Noninertial Frame is only the linear velocity and does not refer to any change in the magnitude or direction of the rotating system. Velocity is expressed in terms of the X, Y, and Z components and computed using expressions such as a function of time.
