Difference between Extruded and Swept Flange Walls
An extruded flange wall can be attached only to a single linear edge. Dimension extruded flange walls using the referenced sketch plane.
A swept flange wall can be attached to more than one linear or nonlinear edge. You can use a tangent or nontangent chain as a placement chain. You can also use intent chains and surface chains as attachment edges. Dimension swept flange walls using the trim or extend dimensions of the attachment trajectory.
You can use the Flange tool to create both types of flange walls. A swept wall is created by default. If your attachment wall is linear, you can redefine your wall as an extruded flange wall.
Dimensions for an extruded flange wall reference the sketch plane.
Dimensions for a swept flange wall reference the attachment trajectory.
