About the Routing Environment
Spec-Driven Piping
In Spec-Driven piping, the pipelines are configured in the project specification database. Before you can begin routing a pipeline, you must choose the pipe specification directory file and the values for the size, schedule, and mnemonic in the Create Pipeline dialog box. Click Create Pipe and choose from the project lists. Click Setup > Environment.When you route the pipeline, you can display the pipeline name, default corner type, and pipeline shape in the graphics window. The information updates with any change to the active pipeline or current line stock. The information appears below the active piping assembly name, as in the next figure:
Non Spec-Driven Piping
Before you begin routing a pipeline, you must set up a pipeline routing environment. Choose the line stock to use and assign default values for the following line stock parameters:
Material—Steel, copper, or plastic for example.
Grade—The scale, size, and quality of the pipe. Choose a
Cross Section—Rectangular or circular and hollow or solid.
Section Parameters—Outer diameter and wall thickness.
Corner Type—Fitting, bend or miter.
Line Shape—Straight or flexible.
Line Stock—Choose the line stock to route from the list of line stock configured for the pipeline.
When you route the pipeline, you can display the pipeline name, corner type, and line shape parameters in the graphics window. The information updates with any change to the active pipeline or current line stock. The information appears below the active piping assembly name, as in the next figure:
