About Creating a Coordinate System from a File
A coordinate system that is created using a transformation matrix uses a data file to construct a new coordinate system relative to an existing coordinate system. The file data defines two vectors, as follows:
The first vector specifies the x-axis direction.
The second vector, which is in the xy-plane (in the general direction of the new y-axis), determines the new coordinate system origin. The z-axis is automatically constructed using the right-hand rule.
The following figure illustrates the transformation of the coordinate system.
Coordinate System Transformation
The x-axis direction is determined from the matrix file and is then translated to the new coordinate system origin.
The xy-plane is constructed from the second vector in the file and translated to the new coordinate system origin.
