To Generate a Mass Properties Report Based on Model Geometry
Generating a mass properties report based on model geometry produces the same results as a mass properties computation through model analysis (accessible by clicking Analysis > Mass Properties). However, a model analysis computation does not change the reported mass property parameter values.
1. Click File > Prepare > Model Properties. The Model Properties dialog box opens.
2. Click change in the Mass Properties line. The Setup Mass Properties dialog box opens.
3. Select Geometry and Density as the source for mass properties calculation. If you have not changed the PRO_MP_SOURCE parameter value, this is the default source.
4. Select the coordinate system to be used.
5. If the object is a part, type a value in the Density box. If the object is an assembly, the system calculates the average density based on the densities of assembly components.
6. Click Generate Report.
7. If the object is an assembly, the system prompts you for density of each component part in turn. Enter the density values.
8. The system calculates the mass properties, displays the results in the Information Window, and saves them in a file objectname.m_p in the current working directory. You can use the Edit command in the Information Window to edit the file, or use the File > Save As command to save it under a different name.
9. Click Close when finished viewing the report.
