Tolerance Control in Roughing and Reroughing
The tool path approximates curved geometry by moving in small straight line increments. The maximum distance that the straight line path deviates from the curved geometry is defined by tolerance. Unlike other types of NC sequences, where the tolerance band is symmetric with respect to the surface being machined, in Roughing and Reroughing you can specify different tolerance values for the two sides of the surface.
The following schematic illustrates the two tolerance values, OUTSIDE_TOLERANCE and INSIDE_TOLERANCE.
1. Design surface
2. Material
3. Tool
4. Tool centerline path
5. OUTSIDE_TOLERANCE controls the tool deviation outside the material
6. INSIDE_TOLERANCE controls the tool deviation inside the material
