To Specify Corner Conditions
For 4–axis Area turning sequences, the procedure for specifying corner conditions is similar to 5–axis Trajectory milling. See the topic To Specify Corner Conditions for 5-Axis Trajectory Milling.
You can specify the corner conditions using specific options in the following dialog boxes:
Profile Turning Cut in a profile turning sequence.
Area Turning Cut in an area turning sequence.
Groove Turning Cut in a groove turning sequence.
Curve Cut in a trajectory milling sequence.
Drive Surface Cut in a trajectory milling sequence.
You can also specify corner conditions in the graphics window using the shortcut menu. To specify corner conditions using any of these dialog boxes, perform the following steps:
1. In the Corners section, select the Type of corner condition:
Sharp
Fillet
Chamfer
Loop
Straight

* Loop and Straight type corner conditions are available only in trajectory milling.
The corners where you can apply corner conditions are denoted by
The selected corner condition is automatically added at all the corners of the cut.
2. The default condition is Sharp, which does not apply any corner conditions.
3. Specify Concave Radius or Convex Radius for the Fillet type of corner condition.
4. Specify Chamfer Dimension for the Chamfer type of corner condition.
5. For trajectory milling sequences only, specify Convex Radius for Loop type of corner condition. This creates a loop condition on convex corners to preserve a sharp edge.
6. For trajectory milling sequences only, specify Corner Length and Corner Angle for the Straight type of corner condition. This condition creates a parallelogram corner condition on convex corners to preserve a sharp edge.
7. In the graphic window, right-click the corner and a shortcut menu appears:
Chamfer Corner—Add a chamfer at the corner.
Fillet Corner—Add a fillet at the corner.
Sharp Corner—Add a corner with no chamfer or corner radius.
Original Corner—Add the corner condition selected in the Area Turning Cut dialog box.

* These options are available only for turning sequences.
8. Define Customized Corners as follows:
a. Click to add a new row of customized corner condition.
b. Select a Vertex on the turn profile from the graphics window.
Alternatively, right-click in the graphics window and select Tool Path Vertex
c. Select the Type of corner condition.
d. Specify the Value.
When you change an automatic corner individually, it is marked with a red cross hair.
9. In the Customized Corners table, right-click any corner condition and the following shortcut menu options are available:
Fillet
Chamfer
Sharpen
Remove
Fillet All
Chamfer All
Sharpen All
Remove All

* You can also specify the values of concave radius, convex radius and chamfer dimension at step level parameters or tool motion level parameters. With customized corners, you can specify a non-parametric value for the corner condition.
