High Speed Machining
High speed machining (both roughing and profiling) is available for 2.5-axis Volume sequences.
To perform high speed roughing in Volume milling, set the ROUGH_OPTION parameter to ROUGH_ONLY and SCAN_TYPE to CONSTANT_LOAD. High speed roughing is based on the following principles:
Constant cutting condition
Constant chip load
Approach from outside material
Continuous tool engagement
Minimization of sudden tool direction changes
Reduction of repositioning moves
To perform high speed profiling in Volume milling, set the ROUGH_OPTION parameter to PROF_ONLY and SCAN_TYPE to CONSTANT_LOAD. High speed profiling consists of the following factors:
Continuous tool engagement
Minimization of sudden tool direction changes
Reduction of repositioning moves
User-specified minimum radius parameter for concave corners (the CORNER_ROUND_RADIUS parameter)
Entry and exit moves using an arc or helical move
Creation of S-connection between slices with respect to the PROFILE_CONNECT_ANGLE parameter, which can be modified.
