About Parameters Created for the Mass Properties of Source Models
The following parameters are created in Creo when you import part and assembly models of various formats or open Autodesk Inventor, CATIA V5 or V4, Creo Elements/Direct, NX, and SolidWorks models as non-native models using Creo Unite.
PTC_MP_IMP_VOLUME
PTC_MP_IMP_AREA
PTC_MP_IMP_COGX
PTC_MP_IMP_COGY
PTC_MP_IMP_COGZ
These parameters store the mass properties and the validation property values of the source models and are updated when you perform the following tasks:
Associatively update the Translated Image Models (TIMs) created by the import of part and assembly models with Associative Topology Bus (ATB) capabilities.
Regenerate the import features and the non-native models opened in Creo regardless of their ATB capabilities.
Upgrade structure or graphics representations of TIM assemblies to their master representation.
The parameters that store the mass properties of the source models are not created in the following instances:
The import does not create or update import features and models.
Solid models are imported without brep geometry.
The imported geometry does not include solids.
The import features are redefined or regenerated, especially for new accuracy.
The structure-level details or visualization data of assemblies are selectively imported.
The representation of the selectively imported assemblies are changed from graphical to structure or structural to graphics.
The graphical or structural representations of TIM assemblies are associatively updated.
Import features and non-native models opened in Creo with Creo Unite are retrieved or reopened when they are up-to-date with their source models.
Import features are not created for part components in the TIM assemblies when you selectively import part components or assemblies as structural or graphical representations. The parameters that store the mass properties are also not created. Additionally, the structure and the graphic representations do not allow the creation of model geometry until you upgrade the TIM assemblies to their master representation. When you upgrade structure or graphics representations of TIM assemblies to their master representation, import features are created and the parameters for the storage of mass properties and validation property values are created in the import features.
Parameters created for the storage of mass properties are removed from the imported models in the following instances:
The associative update of TIM parts and assemblies that removes the brep geometry of the models.
Model regeneration does not solidify parts that results in the removal of the COG properties from the models.

* Parameters are created for the mass properties of the source models only when the imported models contain brep geometry.
If you import solid models without brep geometry, the parameters for the validation properties of area and volume do not exist in the imported models. The parameters for COG properties are not created when the imported geometry does not include solids.
