Exchanging Data Between Pro/ENGINEER Releases
As part of the work in the collaborative environment, you can run the current version of Creo Parametric or Pro/ENGINEER releases Wildfire, 2001, 2000i, and 2000i2.
In Pro/ENGINEER 2001 or later, use the standard Neutral (*.neu) import type option in the Open dialog box to import the Neutral part or assembly. Use the standard Associative Topology Bus (ATB) Check Status and Update commands to update the imported Neutral parts and assemblies.
When working with Pro/ENGINEER release 2000i and 2000i2, use the CDRS IN feature (Feature > Create > CDRS In) to insert a Neutral part file into an existing Creo Parametric part as a CDRS IN feature. If the original Creo Parametric part changes, you can update the CDRS IN feature to reflect these changes with the Retrieve/Regenerate/Confirm update functionality used for the IN features in these releases.

* You can use the standard Neutral (*.neu) to open both Neutral parts and assemblies as new models in Pro/ENGINEER releases 2000i and 2000i2, but the resulting imported geometry and assembly structure is not ATB-enabled. You can only update parts files inserted as CDRS IN features.
The following table summarizes the Neutral data exchange/ATB functionality between the different Pro/ENGINEER releases:

None.
Imported geometry is not ATB-enabled.
Datum geometry such as curves, planes, and coordinate systems, solids, surfaces, colors, layers, entity names, and model parameters are imported. Datum axes of the original part are transferred as curve entities, not as Creo Parametric axis entities.
In Pro/ENGINEER release 2001, the imported assembly models are represented by the generic File icons instead of the special ATB icons.
For information on exporting and importing Neutral files, see the Interface Help.
