About Updating a CADDS 5 TIM
Consider the following information when checking the status or updating a CADDS 5 Translated Image Model (TIM) part or assembly:
The referenced CADDS 5 models must be located in one of the directory paths designated in the CVPATH environment variable.
The CVPATH directories are searched for the reference CADDS 5 model in the order they are defined by the CVPATH environment variable. This is regardless of the directory into which the CADDS 5 model was initially imported or from where it was last updated.
Creo Parametric does not search for the reference model in the full path stored in the TIM or the working directory.
If there is no explicitly defined CVPATH, only the working directory is searched.
CADDS 5 models are checked according to the revision numbers stored internally.
Associative Topology Bus (ATB) searches the designated paths sequentially (<path1> then <path2> then <path3>, and so on). If two versions of the referenced CADDS 5 model exist, one in <path2> and one in <path4>, ATB uses the version stored in <path2> as the reference for check status and update even if the version in <path4> is a later version of the CADDS 5 model.
If you want to switch to another version of the pro_cadds5 converter while updating a CADDS 5 TIM assembly, kill the ODB_DAEMON process running and then switch to the alternate version of the pro_cadds5converter. Use the intf_cadds_version configuration option to switch between the default and the alternate pro_cadds5 converter version.
The associative update of a CADDS 5 assembly fails if the nmsd Name Service is not running or if the version of the ODB_DAEMON process is not the same as the version of the CADDS 5 converter being used. For information, see the Interface Help.
If you modify the assembly tree of a TIM assembly in the Creo Parametric environment, some of your changes may be lost during the assembly update.
If there are changes to the layers, or the colors associated with the layers, you can update the imported model. The layer filter settings retained during the import of the part or assembly are maintained during the update maintaining the integrity of the TIM's imported geometry.
