Using notebooks to assemble components automatically is a simple process. First, declare the assembly and the parts being assembled to the same notebook. Second, declare global datums in each part. Sufficient placement references must exist in each component. Parts that reference the same datums are aligned.

When a parameter table exists in the notebook, you must choose the parameter set required before placing components. When you inset a component into the assembly,

Automatic is selected by default in the Component Placement tab. Click

to automatically place the component using notebook constraints.

During automatic assembly, explicit declarations are considered before table declarations.

You can automatically replace automatically assembled components. The replacing component must be declared to the notebook and have datums declared to the global datums used as placement references. Click Operations >

Replace and choose Notebook as the Replace By option.
