To Edit the Merge Feature Definitions
1. Retrieve an assembly and create a mirrored copy of the assembly.
2. Right-click the merge feature in Model Tree and choose from the shortcut menu. The Merge/Inheritance tab opens.
3. Select a reference to make an automatic placement constraint or click Placement to modify the constraint type, references, and offset. Click References and then click the Copy Datums check box to toggle datum copying from the original model.
4. Click Options and edit the following options:
Dependent—Toggles the source model geometry dependency.
Refit Datums—Changes the size or reference of a copied datum. The Refit Datums dialog box opens. Select a datum and then choose Size to edit the width and height of the selected datum. If the Lock aspect ratio check box is selected, the original width and height ratio is maintained when one of these values change. Alternatively, choose Reference to change the reference of the selected datum.

* When changing references, you must select a feature that precedes the merge feature in the Model Tree.
5. Click Properties and enter a new name for the Merge feature in the Name text box.
6. Click to change the reference model of the mirrored part. A warning message appears.
7. Click Yes to confirm the change, and then select an alternative instance as reference from the Family Tree dialog box.
8. Click OK to accept your selection. Notice that the new reference model is updated in the reference collector.

* This option is available only for parts that have a Family Table.
9. Click . The merge feature is regenerated with the defined changes.
