To Create a Mirrored Copy of a Part inside an Assembly
1. Retrieve an assembly.
2. Click or select a component in the Model Tree, right-click, and select Mirror Component. The Mirror Component dialog box opens.
3. Select the component to mirror.
4. Select a mirror plane. This can be a datum plane or a surface.
 
* It is good practice to mirror about a plane belonging to the part to be mirrored.
5. Under New component, select one of the following options:
Create a new model (default)—Creates a new mirrored part.
Reuse selected model—Reuses the part to create the mirror part.
6. To change the default name, type a name for the new part.
7. Under Mirror, select one of the following options:
Geometry only (default)—Creates a mirrored copy of the original part geometry.
Geometry with features—Creates a mirrored copy of the geometry and features of the original part.
8. Under Dependency control, set one or both of the following parameters:
Geometry dependent—Updates the mirrored part geometry when the original part geometry is modified.
Placement dependent—Updates the mirrored part placement when the original part placement is modified.
 
* When you use Geometry with features, the geometry of the new part is not dependent on the geometry of the source part.
9. Click Perform symmetry analysis and follow the steps below, or click OK or middle-click to exit the tool. A mirrored copy of the component is placed in the assembly.
Performing a Symmetry Analysis
You can reuse symmetric and anti-symmetric parts to eliminate the need of creating new mirror parts.
1. Under Symmetry Analysis, select the following options:
Perform symmetry analysis—Performs a symmetry analysis.
The system checks the selected part for symmetry and checks for anti-symmetric parts in the assembly.
2. Click OK. The component is placed as a mirror component in the assembly.
