What is the benefit of this enhancement?
When you create formula-driven lattices, you can offset the lattice wall and vary the offset. Varying the lattice wall offset is useful when you want to create structures that direct the flow, such as baffles in a heat exchanger. The offset can be greater in the areas that must be closed in order to separate different spaces.
This enhancement is used to direct the fluid flow inside a container with formula-driven lattices, such as gyroids. A few examples of such fluid flow engineering devices are heat exchangers and mixers.
Previously, it was difficult to baffle the areas to divide different fluid domains. This enhancement automates the tedious task. It streamlines the workflow to create baffles for heat exchangers and mixers.
Additional Information
Tips:
None.
Limitations:
The following lattice parameters on the Density tab are recommended when you use a wall offset to create baffles:
Distance—Approximately equal to the cell size found on the Cell Type tab.
Target wall offset—Approximately ¼ to ⅓ of the cell size.
Offset change rate—From 1 through 3.
Does this replace existing functionality?
No.
Configuration option associated with this functionality:
None.
