About Getting Started with Scan Tools
When you enter the Scan Tools environment by using > > , Scan Tools creates an empty independent geometry feature. You can then use the following methods to populate the independent geometry feature:
• Import raw data from a file
• Create curves and surfaces using the Curve and Surface commands on the Geometry tab of the Independent Geometry ribbon tab.
Typically, you start with imported geometry (raw data created from a file within Scan Tools, import features, or surfaces and curves of an existing import feature). After the independent geometry feature contains some geometry, you can use it as a basis for creating shapes. As Scan Tools offers a variety of tools for direct surface modeling, you may need to follow different paths depending on the type of data you are using.

After you have filtered out extraneous data, you can create curves from imported data points. You can then create surfaces from the curves.

You can use > >  Edit Definition to redefine the imported geometry. You can then add more surfaces and modify surfaces as needed. |

If you want to start with an empty independent geometry feature

You can first create curves and surfaces by referencing regular Creo Parametric objects, such as datum points, datum curves, and so on. You can then import raw data.
