Review Elements Dialog Box
After creating a FEM mesh, click > > to open the
Mesh Review tab. Click
Elements to open the
Review Elements dialog box. Review the elements in the FEM mesh by selecting from one of the following options from the drop-down list:
• Select Elements—Highlights an individual element and displays its ID, coordinate system, shell normal or all these attributes. Click an element on your model to select it.
Elements—The selected element IDs are displayed in the Elements collector. Use the Ctrl key to select multiple elements.
• Element ID—Highlights an individual element and displays its ID, coordinate system, shell normal or all these attributes. Enter the integer ID for the element you are interested in.
• All Exterior Elements—Highlight only boundary elements and display their element IDs, coordinate system, shell normal or all these attributes. This option only appears if the mesh includes solid elements.
• All Elements—Highlights all elements and displays their element IDs coordinate system, shell normal or all these attributes.
• Unused Element IDs—Generates a list of unused element IDs. You can use this option to help detect element ID conflicts in hierarchical meshes. You can correct these conflicts by applying mesh ID offset mesh controls to the conflicting elements.
Display Options—Selects the attributes of the elements that you want to review from the following:
• ID
—Displays the element ID.
• Coordinate System—Displays the coordinate system for the elements that you review.
• Shell Normal—Displays the shell normals for the elements that you select to review. This check box is available only if the mesh includes shell elements.
Click Show to review the selected elements in the model. Currently displayed elements are erased and the newly selected elements appear. The Show button is not available if you have you selected Select Elements.
